Dwapara, the second single from Golden Star Ganesh’s upcoming romantic drama Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, was released 10 days and the song, composed by Arjun Janya and sung by Jaskaran Singh, is inching closer to 10 million streams. A catchy tune, the song has caught the fascination of Kannada audiences, who have hailed it as “beautiful” and “mesmerizing”, among others.
Dwapara is similar to...
However, as the song gained popularity, there were also a few who commented that Dwapara sounds similar to another number, which, is, interestingly, also from a Ganesh film. Dwapara, they feel, bears striking similarities to Kolle Nannanne from Aramane, which Gurukiran composed and sang.
Composer Arjun Janya, when asked about the similarities between the songs shrugged it off and said that he pays no attention to social media comments. In fact, the musician and budding filmmaker added that even if comments are brought to his attention, he does not take them to heart and, more importantly, does not react to anything. However, the music man says that for people like him, certain tunes tend to be inspired by compositions they’ve heard throughout their lives and there maybe bits and pieces derived from common source materials. “You may have heard something, but think that you can do a better version. Everything in this world is inspired by something else,” he says.
Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi has been directed by Srinivasa Raju, best known for the Dandupalya series of movies, and is headed to theatres on August 15. The filmmaker has refrained from releasing a teaser or trailer in the run-up to the film hitting theatres, stating instead that for a romantic drama, the calling card is almost always the music. He has released a few songs so far – My marriage is fixed and Dwapara – with at least one more expected before August 15.
