The music industry is in shock following the unexpected and tragic death of soloist Wheesung, aged 43, who was discovered deceased at his residence in South Korea on March 10. Authorities received notification of the incident at approximately 6:29 PM KST, following a family member's distressing finding. Although investigations are currently underway, preliminary reports indicate that a considerable duration had elapsed since his death, leaving fans and loved ones devastated and struggling to comprehend the loss.

Wheesung’s management company confirms his death

TAJO Entertainment, the management company of Wheesung, has officially confirmed the news of his passing. In their statement, they expressed, “This is TAJO Entertainment. It is with great sorrow that we announce this tragic news. On March 10, our artist Wheesung departed from us. He was discovered at his residence in a condition of cardiac arrest and subsequently passed away. Our company’s artists and executives are grieving alongside the family of the deceased.”

The statement continued, “It is profoundly sorrowful to convey this distressing news to his fans, who have provided him with immense support and affection. We kindly ask for prayers for the deceased, that he may find peace. Further information regarding the funeral arrangements will be shared at a later time. We earnestly request that you avoid engaging in any speculative rumors out of respect for the family, who are experiencing profound shock and grief.”

The statement concluded with, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the deceased. May he rest in peace,” as reported by Koreaboo.

KCM cancels concert after Wheesung’s death

Wheesung was scheduled to perform alongside singer KCM at the Daegu EXCO Auditorium on March 15, just days prior to his tragic passing. Following the announcement of his death, KCM's agency, A2Z Entertainment, informed OSEN on the afternoon of March 10, stating, “We were preparing for a joint concert with Mr. Wheesung in the area on the 15th, but we received the news of his passing today,” and expressed, “We are currently in a state of shock.”

They further elaborated, “The concert was not intended to be a duet; rather, it was organized as a performance where Mr. Wheesung would take the stage for one hour, followed by KCM for another hour.” They also mentioned, “Upon learning of this unfortunate event, we were notified by the concert planning company that the event has been officially cancelled,” as reported by Chosen Biz.
