Days after a Kolkata trainee doctor was raped and murdered, Bollywood stars have voiced their outrage through social media. Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut demanded a CBI investigation and urged the central government to take immediate action. Ayushmann Khurrana, Alia Bhatt, and Parineeti Chopra also voiced their shock and outrage over the heinous incident.

Bollywood celebrities demand justice

The shocking Kolkata incident has sparked widespread public outrage, and celebrities from Bollywood are also seen demanding justice on social media. Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Kriti Sanon, Twinkle Khanna, Genelia D'Souza, and Suhana Khan expressed their deep anger and disgust over the incident, and also raised concerns about women’s safety.

While Priyanka, who served as a National Ambassador to UNICEF India for ten years, shared a post on her Instagram story of a signboard, where it’s written “Who will speak for her if you don't?”, Hrithik Roshan  took to X (formerly Twitter) and demanded harsh punishment for the culprits, while stating that he stands with the victim’s family.

On the other hand, Kriti Sanon, who has recently had two blockbusters—Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew this year, expressed her fear and disgust on Instagram. She pointed out how shocking it is that while we all are feeling proud of India’s 78th Independence Day, people around us left women terrified and unsafe, and questioned whether women are really “FREE”.

Also, actors like Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, claimed to fight till the end. Twinkle Khanna, one of the top actresses in Bollywood during the 1990s, shared what she has been teaching her daughter the dos and don'ts. She also pointed out that women are not even safe in their houses among their relatives.

Fans react to celebrities’ posts

The celebrities' posts, expressing outrage, have garnered millions of likes and thousands of comments over the past three days. While some fans supported their protests, a section of netizens questioned them as well.

For instance, Twinkle Khanna’s posts received many comments like what she is teaching her son, and how well her son is educated. Even Hrithik Roshan got some negative comments due to his latest post. Some even stated that celebrities just follow the trends, and do not think about the gravity of the incidents.
