Bollywood actress Kirti Kulhari is presently engaged in promoting her latest film, Hisaab Barabar. In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kirti discussed her decision to cut her hair short and reflected on how her Instagram post showcasing her new look led some to speculate about her sexual orientation.
Kirti on cutting her hair
Regarding her haircut, Kirti clarified that her choice was not intended to set a trend but was simply a personal decision that felt appropriate at the moment. She mentioned receiving messages from women who expressed that she had motivated them to make similar changes, highlighting her surprise at the significant influence of what she considered a minor action.
Additionally, she touched upon the societal expectations related to haircuts and the pressures from family members. When asked about a particularly surprising remark she encountered, the actress recounted, “On the day I completed the shoot for Hisaab Barabar, I returned home and decided to cut my hair. Following that, I began receiving comments suggesting that people anticipated I would come out as a lesbian. They were saying, ‘She’s going to reveal her sexual orientation soon—just because of her haircut.’ So, if I have long hair, I’m not perceived as a lesbian, but once I cut it, assumptions are made? It’s amusing how people interpret actions through their own perspectives.”
