K-pop idol and actor Kim Yo Han is set to captivate audiences once more. He has been officially announced as the lead in an upcoming Korean drama, portraying a college student navigating the corridors of an engineering department. The WEi member, who recently departed from the group's comeback after a hiatus of nearly one year and seven months, is also featured in an SBS drama.

Kim Yo Han roped in for a new romance drama

The forthcoming drama, entitled 4th Love Revolution, is set to be helmed by directors Yoon Sung Ho (known for This is How It Turns Out, Going to the Blue House, and Top Management) and Han In Mi (The Trend is Lily). The announcement regarding Yo Han's casting as the male lead was made on December 19th.

In discussing his character, he remarked, “Upon my initial reading of the script, I found it quite humorous and felt a surge of excitement.” He added, “I am eager to present a different facet of myself through the character Kang Min Hak. I hope the audience will have high expectations and take a keen interest in the drama.”

The series is scheduled to premiere in 2025; however, the casting details for the female lead have yet to be disclosed. In the meantime, Yo Han is also engaged in filming another drama, Try: We Will Be Miracles, where he plays Yoon Seong Jun, the captain of the rugby team.

Story of the 4th Love Revolution

The narrative revolves around Kang Min Hak, a popular influencer and campus sensation who appears to possess everything yet opts for a more relaxed lifestyle. Yo Han will portray Kang Min Hak, a modeling student whose popularity soars following his participation in a reality dating program. The secondary character, Goo Yeon San, is an academic prodigy facing challenges in his romantic endeavours. The protagonist finds himself intertwined with engineering students who are his opposites, leading to an unexpectedly tumultuous college experience.

WEi’s comeback

The group is preparing for their return with a new mini-album titled The Feelings. However, there has been a change in the lineup, as Kim Yo Han will not be involved in this comeback due to his commitments to a drama. The remaining six members—Daehyeon, Donghan, Yongha, Yohan, Seokhwa, and Junseo—will perform together for the first time in over a year and a half. They have begun to engage fans with distinctive teaser videos shared on their official social media platforms, generating anticipation for the forthcoming release.

Regarding the comeback, OUI Entertainment remarked, “For this promotional phase, Jang Dae Hyeon, Kim Dong Han, Yoo Yong Ha, Kang Seok Hwa, and Kim Jun Seo will be participating. We encourage fans to look forward to the new album, which will showcase WEi’s musical evolution through ongoing challenges. We also appreciate your understanding regarding Kim Yo Han’s absence from this album due to his drama filming, and the album and promotional efforts will continue with the five members.”
