Actor Kim Soo-hyun's agency, GOLD MEDALIST, has initiated legal action against the family of Kim Sae-ron and Kim Sae-eui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute. According to a report by Koreaboo, the lawsuit stems from the posting of an alleged photograph of Soo-hyun, which depicted him with his pants down at Kim Sae-ron's residence during a live stream on Sae-eui's channel.
Reasons for the legal action
The complaint also targets an unnamed individual who claims to be Kim Sae-ron's aunt, who purportedly supplied the photo to Kim Sae-eui, prompting its publication.
A portion of the statement indicated, "The allegations include breaches of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distribution of footage filmed using cameras, etc.). The image of actor Kim Soo-Hyun shared on Garo Sero's channel was captured during a time when he and Kim Sae-Ron, an adult, were involved in a relationship. This photo features Kim Soo-Hyun in a manner that could lead to sexual humiliation, and it is an image that should not be made public and lacks any justification for disclosure."

Posting such a photograph on a YouTube channel constitutes a criminal offence, and Garo Sero has been threatening Kim Soo-Hyun by expressing their intention to continue sharing similar images. The act of disseminating or publicly exhibiting images of another individual's body, which may incite sexual desire or humiliation without the individual's consent, is a serious crime. Additionally, it was noted that the misinformation propagated by Sae-ron's family continues to "circulate online, perpetuating unfounded rumours." The statement indicated that while they had refrained from initiating legal proceedings against her family, "the unauthorized release of a photograph featuring the body of actor Kim Soo-Hyun is a serious issue that cannot be ignored."
