Seoul police announced the discovery of the deceased South Korean actor Kim Sae-ron, aged 24, at her residence in Seongdong-gu on Sunday, February 16.

Friend discovers Kim Sae-Ron's body

According to reports, Kim's friend discovered her deceased body at her home and notified the authorities around 4:50 p.m. on Sunday. While there is no indication of forced entry in this report, the police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Reports began arriving at the Seoul Seongdong Police Station at approximately 5 p.m. KST, as stated by the authorities.

Police statement on the investigation

According to reports from Soompi, a police source indicated that an investigation is underway to determine the specific circumstances surrounding her death, noting that no evidence of criminal activity, such as a break-in, has been discovered.

In order to respect the memory of the deceased and the feelings of their bereaved family and friends, authorities have requested that no assumptions be made regarding the cause or manner of death. It is important to understand that the police are currently unable to offer any confirmation.

Kim Sae-ron’s acting career

Kim made her acting debut in 2009 after being born in the year 2000. Her breakout roles were in the 2010 thriller The Man from Nowhere and the 2012 suspense feature The Neighbor. Her final piece was Bloodhounds, which came out in 2023.

After an incident with drunk driving in May 2022, she essentially put an end to her acting career. In April 2023, she was fined 20 million won, which is $13,850, by a court.

Kim Sae-ron’s apology statement

Sae-ron issued an apology on her Instagram regarding her incident of driving under the influence. Due to her intoxication, she exercised poor judgment. Furthermore, the actor extended her sincerest apologies to everyone involved in the production, including fellow cast members, crew, and production staff, for the disruption this incident has caused to the ongoing filming and preparations.

The late actor expressed genuine remorse for any inconvenience this situation may have created. She acknowledged that this unfortunate event occurred without justification, leaving her feeling distressed and embarrassed by her actions. She reflected deeply on the matter to prevent a recurrence in the future.
