Kieran Culkin let an F-bomb slip on the Oscars stage and jokingly claimed that his wife now owes him a fourth child after snagging the Best Supporting Actor award. He quickly realized his mistake right after dropping the curse but then went on to give an off-the-cuff speech, sharing a story about his wife, Jazz Charton.

Kieran Culkin up on the Oscars stage

The 97th Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night. The first award of the evening was handed out by Robert Downey Jr. to Kieran Culkin for best supporting actor. Culkin has been on a winning streak this season, snagging award after award for his role alongside Jesse Eisenberg in A Real Pain.

When he made it to the stage, Culkin joked, “I have no idea how I f***ing got here. I've just been acting my whole life." He quickly realized he had forgotten his speech, prompting laughter from the audience, and added, “And there, I have forgotten whatever speech I had, 20 seconds into this.”

During his speech, Culkin reminisced about a playful promise from his wife, Jazz Charton, that they could have a fourth child if he won an Oscar. He took the chance to call out Charton — “love of my life, ye of little faith” — to remind her of that offer.

Kieran Culkin's major success

Kieran Culkin came out on top against tough competition from Edward Norton, Yura Borisov, Guy Pearce, and his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong in the Best Supporting Actor category.

In A Real Pain, which was both written and directed by Eisenberg, we follow two mismatched cousins, David and Benji, as they take a trip through Poland to pay tribute to their grandmother. Their journey gets a bit messy when old family tensions bubble up while they dig into their family history, according to the New York Post.

Culkin's standout performance has earned him some of the most prestigious awards this season, including a Golden Globe, a SAG Award, and a Critics' Choice Award. With his recent Oscar win, he’s added yet another trophy to his collection.

The nominations for the Academy Awards were announced in January, after voting was pushed back twice due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, which claimed at least 28 lives and caused massive property damage. The 97th Academy Awards are available for streaming live on JioHotstar in India.
