Kiccha Sudeep on His Exit from Bigg Boss Kannada: "The Audience Deserves More"

In August of this year, speculation arose regarding Kiccha Sudeep, the long-standing host of Bigg Boss Kannada, contemplating his departure from the program. His fans had been advocating for him to step away from Bigg Boss Kannada for some time, citing concerns over the declining quality of both the contestants and the overall production of the show.
A few days prior to his birthday, Sudeep addressed the media regarding the challenges he faced while commuting between Mahabalipuram, where the filming of Max was taking place, and Bengaluru during the course of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10. He mentioned that there were instances when he had very little rest before stepping onto the stage for the weekend episodes of the reality show, which involved reviewing the week’s episodes and preparing for his segment.
Sudeep expressed his hope that the channel would seek a replacement, and several names circulated during that period. However, it was soon confirmed that the Kannada superstar would continue to host the 11th season. Shortly thereafter, the new season commenced, but Sudeep took to social media to announce that this would be his final season as host.
In a recent interview with The Hindu, Sudeep discussed his decision to depart after 11 seasons of Max. He remarked, “When I tweeted, I was genuinely fatigued, and I believed that my exhaustion was a valid sentiment. Had I not tweeted at that moment, my perspective might have shifted by the following day. Since the thought occurred to me, I felt it was prudent to share it publicly, thereby making a commitment to myself,” he stated with a light-hearted tone, but he later noted more serious concerns regarding “internal agendas.”
Expounding on his choice, Sudeep expressed his reluctance to ignore the existing issues. “Not everyone around me warranted my dedication,” he reflected, considering the balance between his other responsibilities and Bigg Boss Kannada. The prominent figure emphasized that he felt insufficient recognition for the efforts he invested to ensure the smooth operation of the show week after week. “When I do not observe that recognition, I would prefer to channel that same energy into my films,” he asserted.
However, the concern extends beyond his personal treatment. Sudeep ultimately acknowledged the criticisms voiced by audiences and fans regarding the show's quality. “Bigg Boss Kannada merits a more respectful and thoughtful approach, akin to how the show is handled in other languages. I do not perceive that happening here. This is not solely about me. If one compares Bigg Boss Kannada with its counterparts, examining the visuals and overall approach, it is clear that our audience deserves greater respect,” he concluded.
