Actor Prateik Babbar is the song of legendary actress Smita Patil and actor-politician Raj Babbar. The actor never shied away from opening up about his battle with substance abuse which he eventually overcame. Recently, while promoting his film Khwaabon Ka Jhamela, the actor revealed that he began using drugs long before he entered the film industry. He also revealed that he was introduced to drugs before he turned thirteen.
Prateik Babbar reveals he began using drugs at 13
Prateik was recently in a conversation with Bollywood Bubble to promote his new film Khwaabon Ka Jhamela where he revealed that he started consuming drugs when he was just 12 years old. He then went to rehabilitation and is now clean. The actor also opened up about his complicated family situation. H said, “I just want to say that people think, ‘Oh, he entered films, got fame and money, and then started taking drugs.’ No, that’s not true."
"My drug use began when I was thirteen years old, even before I turned twelve. Yes, I was terrified. So, it wasn’t because of the film industry. Unfortunately, I had a different kind of upbringing, and my family situation was a bit complicated. That’s why I started using drugs. It’s not that fame and money in films led me to it—I had already started using drugs then,” Prateik said.
