Keerthy Suresh entered into matrimony with her long-time partner, Antony Thattil, on December 12, 2024. Following her wedding, the actress has been actively promoting her film, Baby John, and has participated in numerous events. During these public engagements, fans noticed that Keerthy was wearing a turmeric thread around her neck in place of a traditional mangalsutra. In a recent interview with Galatta India, she explained the reasoning behind this choice.

What Keerthy said

In the course of the interview, Keerthy Suresh explained that her consistent choice to wear the sacred thread during promotions is rooted in tradition. She stated, "There is a specific reason for my wearing it at every promotional event, as it is customary not to remove the sacred thread until a designated date. Typically, one would transition to a gold chain after a few days. If there had been an auspicious date within the next week or ten days, I would have made the switch to the gold chain. However, it appears that we have not identified an auspicious date, which is now set for the end of January."

‘I thought it looked hot’

She additionally stated, “I will keep wearing it until that time arrives. Someone suggested that if you do not wish to wear it with your promotional attire… the reason it is secured here is that it should rest against your chest. It is regarded as sacred and is thought to hold significant power. Once you transition to the golden chain, it will seem commonplace. Some have proposed that I could even conceal it, but I find it quite attractive! I am delighted to be displaying it.”

Following her traditional wedding ceremony in Goa earlier this month, Keerthy took to Instagram to share photos from her memorable day. She captioned the post, "#ForTheLoveOfNyke (heart emoji)." One of the photos captured the moment when Keerthy and Antony exchanged garlands. The couple also posed with their dog, exuding joy as they participated in the wedding rituals. Both Keerthy and Antony were dressed in traditional attire.

Directed by Kalees and presented by Atlee, Baby John premiered in theaters today in honour of Christmas. The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav, and features a cameo by Salman Khan. Baby John is co-produced by Priya Atlee, Murad Khetani, and Jio Studios, under the leadership of Jyoti Deshpande.
