Actors Kayadu Lohar and Pradeep Ranganathan are currently on the promotional trail for their latest film, Dragon. In a fun promotional video, they took part in a Love Today-themed game where they swapped phones, and that’s when Pradeep called out Kayadu on his PR tactics.
Kayadu Lohar confesses that she handles her own public relations
Pradeep was browsing through Kayadu’s phone when he stumbled upon a ‘different app’ that turned out to be a meme creation app. Kayadu was taken aback at first but then burst out laughing, telling Pradeep not to go there. He read aloud, “Kayadu Lohar is at the top of Telugu cinema,” teasing her about making memes of herself.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu jumped in, saying, “She’s taking her own selfies and claiming to be the next top heroine in Telugu cinema.” Even though she was a bit embarrassed, Pradeep continued to playfully tease Kayadu about her meme-making and sharing them online. Eventually, she stood her ground and said, “That’s called PR. If no one else is doing it, you have to step up. Fake it till you make it.”
Later in the video, Ashwath brought it up again, saying, “But isn’t it a bit weird? A girl making her own memes.” He even joked about creating memes for her, while Pradeep chimed in, saying she enjoys “making and looking at them” for her own amusement. “In two months, you’ll have fan pages dedicated to you,” Pradeep laughed, suggesting she should start a fan page for herself too.
The internet is buzzing
Fans rallied behind Kayadu after a clip of her started circulating on social media. One fan posted on X (formerly Twitter), “She’s definitely going to make it big... no doubt after seeing her in DRAGON.” Another chimed in, “She’s just speaking the truth.” One person questioned why Pradeep had to mention the app, saying, “He could’ve just ignored it.” Meanwhile, another fan wondered, “I’m curious how many celebrities are doing this...!”
Dragon hit theaters in Tamil and Telugu on February 21 and got positive reviews. It features Anupama Parameswaran in a leading role. The film went up against Dhanush’s directorial, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, which stars his nephew Pavish.
