Double Ismart is set to hit the screens on August 15, 2024, and Kavya Thapar plays the female lead. She talks to us about the film's offer, working with Sanjay Dutt and Ram Pothineni, and her bold character in the film. Here is the transcript.

You were supposed to be launched by Puri Jagannadh in Ismart Shankar; tell us about it

Yes, I was. I even auditioned for the role in the first part. But sadly, I could not be selected. Puri Jagan said he would surely consider me whenever he makes a sequel. Well, here I am, playing the female lead in Double Ismart. Things have not been easy, as I had to audition for this role as well, and luckily, the director selected me.

About your role?

Puri Jagannadh always showcases his heroine in a powerful, bold manner, and I play the same in this film. Right from my looks, glamor, and dialogue, everything is going to be hard-hitting in Double Ismart. The masses will love my role for sure, and I have solid expectations for this film to take my career to the next level.

Working with the likes of Puri Jagannadh and Charmee?

I have been a huge admirer of Puri Jagannadh's work. Look at all the superstars he has launched in their careers. He is a calm and composed man and the script is in his head and improvises a lot on the sets of the film. Charmee is a very caring producer and always supports women on sets. They are a deadly duo and work hard to make films.

Tell us about your working experience with Ram Pothineni?

Ram Pothineni is a gentleman by nature. But the moment the camera is on, he turns into a beast. "It was so difficult for me to match steps with him in all the songs. I had a tough time shooting all the dance numbers with him. But I am also happy that our pair is being loved by one and all," says Kavya Thapar.

A word about Sanjay Dutt?

I have grown up watching Sanjay Dutt's films. The moment I knew he was playing the main villain, I was super thriller. Double Ismart is also releasing in Hindi on a massive scale. If the film clicks, I would be noticed all over. So, sharing screen space with the likes of Sanjay Dutt is a big dream come true moment for me.

How different is Double Ismart from Ismart Shankar?

The sequel is very similar to the first part and takes the story forward. Sanjay Dutt brings a lot of masala to the film. In Double Impact, Ram Pothineni's character is even crazier and will set the house on fire. My team will meet all the expectations put on the film.

Future Projects?

I am almost done shooting for Gopichand's Visvam. I have a lot of offers in hand and will sign them, seeing the response to Double Ismart. The love I am getting in Telugu cinema is something I never imagined. The audience owns you here, and I am so happy that Tollywood has embraced me with open arms.
