For an extended period, fans have been eagerly anticipating the moment when the star would discuss his British wife and their romantic journey. Now, he is gradually offering them a view into his private life.

Song Joong Ki shares insights regarding his experiences in Italy and the impact of his wife on his life
On December 26, 2024, the star of Descendants of the Sun appeared on a YouTube talk show. During the episode, host Choi Hwa Jung graciously welcomed the actor into her home, preparing a meal for them to enjoy together. It was in this intimate setting that Song Joong Ki disclosed that he spends a significant amount of time in Italy when not engaged in work, residing with his wife in Tuscany, located just outside of Rome.
"I reside in Itaewon, but I also maintain a residence in Tuscany. My wife has spent her entire life in Italy, so we often find ourselves there during my breaks from work," Song Joong Ki explained.
He went on to express his admiration for his wife, emphasizing that she is worthy of being "bragged about" due to her admirable character and kindness. The Vincenzo actor married British actress Katy Louise Saunders in 2023, and the couple has since welcomed two children. He reminisced about an occasion when his wife reprimanded him for keeping his manager waiting for 20 minutes, imparting a valuable lesson in etiquette.
"Although I am Korean, my wife places an even greater emphasis on manners and character than I do," he remarked. "She continually encourages me to improve as a person."
Recalling the incident, he shared, "One time, my manager came by to deliver something to me, and I inadvertently made him wait for about 20 minutes because I was occupied elsewhere. Afterwards, she took the time to address the situation with me. She said, ‘Who do you think you are to make someone wait?’ She certainly helps me remember the importance of being a good person."
Song Joong Ki provides a unique perspective on the lives of children in Italy
The actor discussed the upbringing of his children in Italy, particularly highlighting his son’s fluency in Italian. "My son is beginning to converse in Italian," he noted, explaining that the challenge of keeping pace with him has motivated him to learn the language as well. "There are moments when I find it difficult to understand him, which has added some pressure on me, so I am studying Italian," he confessed. "In the meantime, my wife is learning Korean and speaks it remarkably well! She even tells my mother, ‘Uhmeoni (mother-in-law), come eat.’ It may not be perfect, but it is quite charming!"
Earlier, at a press conference for Bogotá, the actor disclosed his wife's Colombian heritage. “In fact, my mother-in-law is Colombian,” he stated when questioned by reporters about his concerns regarding the film's portrayal of Bogotá as merely a crime-ridden area. He reflected on his personal experiences, noting, “Many of my wife's relatives reside there.”
This familial connection has provided him with a unique perspective on the efforts being made to improve the country’s image. Bogotá narrates the journey of Guk Hee (Song Joong-ki), a young man who relocates to Bogotá, Colombia, in search of a better future amid the IMF crisis. "The Colombia I encountered was vibrant!" he asserted. "It was filled with energy, passion, and incredible cuisine – truly delightful." He further remarked, "I witnessed the local population actively striving to move beyond that stereotypical representation."
