Following the uproar surrounding the graphic violence in Marco and the subsequent refusal by the CBFC to grant permission for its television broadcast, producer Shareef Muhammed pledged to reduce violence in his future projects. His production company, Cubes Entertainments, is currently working on its second film, Kattalan, which is directed by Paul George. In response to Shareef Muhammed's suggestion regarding the minimization of violence in the upcoming film featuring Antony Varghese, the director of Kattalan has provided insights into the filmmakers' approach to depicting violence.

In his comments, Paul George clarified that Shareef Muhammed did not request a complete elimination of violence from the film. He stated, "It is not feasible to entirely avoid violence and still create this film."

Paul elaborated on the film's setting, noting that it takes place in a region adjacent to the forest. He described the characters as somewhat eccentric, possessing a hint of violence. However, he assured that the film would not feature excessive brutality. "The level of violence will remain within the parameters established by the Censor Board," he clarified.

Kattalan marks the second production from Shareef Muhammed’s Cubes Entertainments, which previously supported Unni Mukundan’s Marco, recognized as one of the most violent films in Malayalam cinema. While enthusiasts of intense thriller films have praised Marco, certain segments of Kerala's society have criticized its depiction of violence, particularly as it affects women and children.

The cast of Kattalan includes Antony Varghese, known for his roles in various action films, such as Ajagajantharam and RDX: Robert Dony Xavier.

Marco and other action entertainers to watch on OTT

Marco features Unni Mukundan in a gripping role as he embarks on a violent quest for vengeance following the brutal murder of his blind foster brother, Victor. This intense Malayalam action film, Marco, can be streamed on Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium. Additionally, Antony Varghese's Ajagajantharam and Identity, starring Tovino Thomas alongside Trisha, are also accessible for streaming on OTTplay Premium.
