On Sunday, December 8, Katie Holmes, 45, took to Instagram to refute a story from the Daily Mail that claimed her daughter, 18-year-old Suri Cruise, had become a millionaire because her father, Tom Cruise’s, trust fund had supposedly "kicked in." Holmes posted a screenshot of the article, which had the headline: "Suri Cruise the millionaire! Tom Cruise’s trust fund has ‘kicked in,’ and mom Katie Holmes has one for her too.”

Holmes didn't hold back, telling the publication, “Daily Mail, you can stop making stuff up.” She called the allegations “completely false” and expressed her annoyance in the caption with a straightforward, “Enough.”

Suri, who looks just like her mom, started her journey at Carnegie Mellon University in August. There have been several photos of the mother-daughter pair on campus, with Holmes helping Suri get settled into her dorm and even dropping her off.

Previous reports suggested that Suri had a trust fund from her estranged dad, Tom Cruise, which was part of the divorce settlement between Holmes and Cruise. It was said that she wouldn’t receive the full amount until her 30s. “The trust fund was carefully constructed so that she does not get all the money at once and becomes overwhelmed,” a source told the Daily Mail.

Suri, now 18, has always caught the public's eye with her amazing fashion sense and her striking resemblance to her mom. After her parents, Cruise and Holmes, split in 2012, she grew up mostly under her mom's care. They welcomed her in 2006.

Since the high-profile breakup, the once inseparable father-daughter pair has been less visible in the media, though the family has never confirmed any rumors of a rift. Cruise also has two adopted kids, Bella and Connor, with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman, after they faced challenges with fertility.

Suri was mainly raised in New York City, where her mom made sure to shield her from the relentless media attention. "It's really important for me to protect her, especially since she was so visible at a young age," Holmes shared with Glamour in 2023.

"I'm so thankful to be her parent," she continued. "She's an amazing person." Last year, Holmes stepped into directing with her film Rare Objects, where she also acted. Suri even helped out with the movie's soundtrack, just like she did for Holmes' previous film, Alone Together.
