12 days ago | 5 Views

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor engaged in a dialogue with Hollywood star Gillian Anderson for Dirty Magazine. Their conversation encompassed their respective film roles, the representation of sexuality within their industries, and additional topics. They also addressed the pressures actors face to modify their bodies or undergo procedures to secure roles and maintain relevance in the competitive landscape of entertainment.

Gillian noted that, in television, there are significantly more opportunities for women of various ages and body types to lead shows now than there were during her early career in the 1990s. Nevertheless, she expressed that challenges persist in the film sector. She remarked that the number of women capable of headlining a film in Hollywood remains disappointingly low.

Gillian Anderson on ‘weird’ catch-22 in Hollywood

She elaborated, "There exists a peculiar catch-22, as many actors feel compelled to alter their appearance to maintain a youthful look or conform to industry standards. This leads to considerable scrutiny, with tabloids quick to criticize those who make such personal choices. Conversely, the industry often does not fully embrace those who choose not to undergo cosmetic enhancements. Thus, we find ourselves in a catch-22 situation. While the environment has improved compared to the past, the struggle continues."

Kareena Kapoor on actors opting for cosmetic surgeries

Kareena also expressed her thoughts on beauty, aging, and the trend of actors opting for cosmetic surgery. She stated, "Ultimately, it is a personal decision. I appreciate the few lines on my face; they add character. I feel more content in my 40s than I did in my 20s. I prefer to let nature take its course. I am not old yet, and I continue to embrace life."

Kareena Kapoor and Gillian Anderson’s upcoming projects

Kareena was recently featured in "Singham Again," a film directed by Rohit Shetty, which also stars notable actors such as Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Akshay Kumar, and Arjun Kapoor. The film achieved significant box-office success, even amidst competition from Kartik Aaryan’s "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3." Looking ahead, Kareena is slated to appear in a film directed by Meghna Gulzar, the title of which has yet to be announced. Additionally, she disclosed in a recent interview her involvement in a "very big South Indian film," prompting speculation that she may take on the lead role in Yash’s "Toxic."

Conversely, Gillian Anderson is preparing for her role in the American Western action drama series "The Abandons." Set against the backdrop of the 1850s, the series delves into the conflicts among various outlaw factions during the Old West era. Created by Kurt Sutter, it is scheduled to debut on Netflix.
