Karan Johar’s Kitchen Comment Cooks Up a Storm on Social Media

Filmmaker Karan Johar has recently faced significant online criticism after mistakenly referring to the kitchen as "ghusalkhana" (bathroom) in Hindi. Social media users swiftly seized upon this linguistic error, inundating platforms with humorous commentary.

Additionally, many users highlighted Karan's previous comments regarding Kangana Ranaut's accent, accusing him of double standards.

Karan Johar's language blunder

Karan Johar's linguistic misstep occurred during a recent guest appearance on Farah Khan's YouTube vlog, where he inadvertently mixed up the Hindi terms "rasoi" (kitchen) and "ghusalkhana" (bathroom). Although the episode was released last month, the clip has only recently gained traction online, capturing widespread attention.

The clip was also shared on Reddit, titled, “Is Karan it intentionally or he really doesn't know??”.

One comment stated, “He’s acting,” while another remarked, “Did he just call the kitchen, ghusul khanna?”

A user noted, “Perhaps he does what is typically done in the kitchen in the bathroom and vice versa. How does Farah know what occurs in his home?”

Some users speculated that Karan was "most probably playing into it," while others expressed that equating a kitchen with a bathroom, even as a joke, is inappropriate.

One user commented, “This man has criticized Kangana Ranaut for her English accent, yet Karan Johar doesn’t even know the Hindi word for kitchen.”

Another remarked, “It seems like not knowing Hindi is a style statement for them. It’s quite unfortunate.”

“Intentionally, it’s not even funny; ozempic has taken a toll on him,” one user wrote, with another labeling him a “wannabe.”

Karan’s next production venture

Karan's upcoming production project, Nadaaniyan, is currently in progress, which will feature the debut of Saif Ali Khan’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, in the entertainment industry. Ibrahim will star alongside Khushi Kapoor in the film, which is set to be released directly on Netflix. This film will also mark the directorial debut of Shauna Gautam, who previously served as an assistant director to Karan Johar.

Karan's most recent production, Jigra, which he co-produced alongside Alia Bhatt and featured her in the leading role, did not perform well at the box office.
