In 2012, Karan Johar introduced three new faces in Bollywood with his film, Student of the Year. Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan made their acting debuts with the Karan Johar directorial. The high-school drama was successful at the box office. Today (October 19), SOTY has completed 12 years since its theatrical release. On this occasion, Karan posted a series of unseen photos with Alia, Sidharth, and Varun. The filmmaker also shared a picture with the late Rishi Kapoor.

Student of the Year turns 12!

Karan Johar marked 12 years of Student of the Year with a special post on social media. The filmmaker posted unseen pictures with the star cast from the SOTY set. While sharing the pictures, Karan captioned his Instgaram post, "Let’s start with...there’s something about ‘today’, something very special!!! 12 years and I look back at the film I embarked on, solely to have the best time of my life. And best time, it was! (sic)."

In Student of the Year, Alia Bhatt played the role of Shanaya while Sidharth Malhotra was seen as Abhimanyu. As for Varun Dhawan, he essayed the character of Rohan in the film. The star cast of SOTY also included the late Rishi Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor, Sana Saeed, Sahil Anand, and Farida Jalal among many others.

Earlier, when SOTY completed 10 years in 2022, Karan Johar revealed why Student of the Year is special for him. In a social media post, KJo mentioned that Sidharth, Alia, and Varun became his family during SOTY's shoot. "I never knew way back then that I would have children of my own …but my first protective parental feeling was for all three of them…(sic)," he mentioned. The filmmaker added that SOTY gave him many memories.
