After a significant break, Karan made his return to directing with the romantic comedy Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which premiered on July 28, 2023. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, and it also features veteran actors Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, and Dharmendra in prominent roles. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani received positive feedback from both audiences and critics, marking a triumphant return for Karan after nearly five years since his previous directorial project, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).

Currently, Karan is engaged in the production of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which is directed by Shashank Khaitan. This film includes Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, Sanya Malhotra, and Akshay Oberoi in significant roles. The release date is set for April 18, 2025.
