Karan Johar is a prominent figure in Bollywood and serves as the driving force behind Dharma Productions. In an interview with Komal Nahta, he expressed that he views himself as more 'fortunate than talented' and identifies as a realist regarding his professional endeavors. Furthermore, Karan remarked that numerous individuals within the film industry are entrenched in a delusion that is beyond remedy.

What Karan said

In the course of the interview, Karan expressed that he did not recognize his worthiness of success until several years following his first directorial project. He reflected, “While working on the sets of My Name Is Khan, I had a moment of realization, thinking, ‘Perhaps I do possess some skill in my profession.’ I have consistently felt that my good fortune has outweighed my talent. I consider myself a realist and am not under any illusions. Delusion is a condition for which no cure exists. If I could provide a remedy, I would administer it to numerous individuals within this industry, as many are ensnared in their own delusions.”

‘I am 80% realistic’

He further stated, "We must approach this matter with diplomacy. I am not under any illusions. I possess a clear understanding of my films and the factors that contributed to their varying degrees of success. I consider myself to be 80% realistic, with the remaining 20% rooted in aspiration. At times, I find it difficult to comprehend the mindset of certain individuals. I cannot ascertain whether they are deceiving themselves or genuinely believe they have created a remarkable film. The truth, however, is quite different."
