Bollywood director Karan Johar recently expressed his perspectives on the art of storytelling, highlighting the significance of conviction in the filmmaking process during an interview with Komal Nahata for his YouTube channel, Game Changers. He referenced the work of SS Rajamouli to illustrate that while his films may not always adhere to conventional logic, they are propelled by a strong sense of conviction.

When inquired about what becomes paramount in cinema when logic is disregarded, Karan stated, “Conviction plays a crucial role. If one examines the trajectories of the most successful filmmakers, it becomes evident that their greatest successes are founded on conviction. Logic is secondary in film. Consider the works of Rajamouli, for instance. Where is the logic present? What stands out is the conviction. When conviction takes center stage, the audience is compelled to believe in it.”

He went on to state, "Consider the most successful films — be it Animal, RRR, or Gadar — these productions are created with a strong sense of conviction. If one can overcome a thousand adversaries with just a single hand pump, that exemplifies conviction, does it not? Anil Sharma is confident that Sunny Deol possesses this ability. That is the essence of conviction. I aspire for every filmmaker to embody this quality, as I believe it is the key to transforming any film into a blockbuster. The challenge arises when one begins to doubt themselves, second-guess the audience, and place excessive emphasis on logic."

Karan Johar is in the process of preparing for the upcoming release of his production, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. This film, directed by Shashank Khaitan, features prominent performances by Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. The romantic drama is set to premiere on April 18, 2025. Furthermore, he has another project titled Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan, in development. Additionally, under the banner of Dharma Productions, he will support the film Kesari Chapter 2, featuring Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan.
