Stree 2, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, premiered in theaters last year and emerged as one of the most significant successes in Hindi cinema. The film achieved the distinction of being the third highest-grossing Indian film and the top-grossing Hindi film of 2024. In a discussion with Komal Nahta, Karan expressed that he feels 'empowered and inspired' by the film's box office performance. He commended the cast and emphasized the need to recognize the efforts of the producer-director duo.

What Karan said

During the interview, Karan remarked: “I feel a sense of joy witnessing the impressive box office performance of Stree 2. I am truly empowered and inspired by a film that does not feature a large ensemble of six superstars. It does not rely on the presence of the biggest star in the country. Instead, it highlights the conviction of the producer and the director. Kudos to Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. The entire cast is remarkable—Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Shraddha Kapoor are all outstanding. However, the real credit goes to those two!”

‘It is the age of the producer’

He further elaborated, “I consistently assert that this is not merely the era of the director or the star; it is the era of the producer. The manner in which a project is developed, positioned, marketed, and released is crucial. The strategies employed during the release at a specific time are vital components for a film's success. This is the age of the studio and the producer.”

Stree 2 was released in theaters on August 15 of the previous year. The film serves as a sequel to the 2018 installment, which centered around a female ghost wronged in her previous life, and introduces a headless antagonist named Sarkata. Stree 2 narrates the story of Sarkata, who kidnaps women with a strong sense of independence. It was produced by Maddock Films, part of Dinesh Vijan's ambitious horror-comedy universe, which also includes titles like Bhediya and Munjya.
