There has been speculation regarding the possibility of his use of Ozempic, a medication commonly linked to weight loss. Nevertheless, the filmmaker asserts that his new appearance is solely the outcome of his dedication to adopting a healthier lifestyle.

In a recent interaction with India Today Digital on the green carpet prior to the IIFA Digital Awards 2025, Karan has put an end to the rumors surrounding his weight loss, crediting it to his dedication to discipline and a healthy lifestyle.

He stated, “Being healthy, eating right, exercising, doing your best to look good that’s what it’s about.” While Karan did not directly address the speculation regarding Ozempic, his remarks indicated that his weight loss was the result of adopting healthy habits.

When another journalist inquired about the specifics of his routine, Karan humorously responded, “If I do that, I'll give my secret away.”

Last year, the filmmaker shared a screenshot of a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) to emphasize that his weight loss journey was undertaken in a healthy manner. The screenshot included a tweet stating, “Maheep (Maheep Kapoor) appropriately criticized individuals for utilizing Ozempic for rapid weight loss, which has resulted in a shortage for those with diabetes. I hope she also addresses Karan Johar, the producer of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives.”

The user on X was referring to Maheep's remarks on the Netflix series Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, where she condemned the use of Ozempic for weight loss, highlighting the impact on diabetic patients who depend on the medication.

In response, Karan posted on his Instagram Stories, “Prioritizing health, maintaining a balanced diet, and reinventing your own nutritional approach! And Ozempic receives the credit??”

Ozempic was initially approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2017 as an injectable medication aimed at lowering blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus, in conjunction with diet and exercise. Recently, it has gained traction as a popular weight loss solution.
