Telugu actor and producer Vishnu Manchu's mythological film, Kannappa, has already created considerable excitement among viewers. However, a recent promotional event for the movie saw cast member Raghu Babu make a statement that left fans feeling disheartened.

Raghu Babu warns trolls

As reported by Telugu 360, Raghu Babu cautioned critics against trolling the film, asserting, "Anyone who trolls the movie Kannappa will incur the wrath and curse of Lord Shiva..." This remark did not resonate well with social media users. While some found humor in it, others regarded it as an odd marketing strategy.

Reddit reacts to the statement

A Reddit user posted about the statement, leading to a wave of disappointment among commenters. One user quipped, "Fear and religion have always been effective in this country. I look forward to going to hell and being fried in oil for my numerous sins." Another expressed exasperation, stating, "What kind of bizarre marketing is this? Oh god!!!" A third comment from a devoted Shiv Bhakt noted, "I can assure you he doesn’t have that much time..." Additionally, one user drew parallels to other controversial films, remarking, "In other words, another Adipurush is on the horizon?"

About Kannappa

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu, the film is inspired by the tale of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva in Hindu tradition. The cast includes Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, alongside Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Preity Mukhundhan, and Madhoo in supporting roles. The film will also feature special cameo appearances by Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal. It is set to be released in theaters on April 25, 2025.

Discussing the impressive ensemble cast and the film's widespread appeal across India, Vishnu Manchu shared with Hindustan Times, "Each actor involved in this project participated out of admiration and affection for my father. While I would like to take credit for this, it would not be truthful! I am thankful for their kindness and support, and I aspire to cultivate such connections as I age."
