Kangana vs Hansal: Filmmaker Fires Back After Brutal Dig
3 days ago | 5 Views
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta and actress Kangana Ranaut engaged in a heated exchange on social media regarding the backlash faced by comedian Kunal Kamra after his stand-up performance, which included a joke about Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Following this, the Mumbai venue where Kamra performed was vandalized and subsequently demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Hansal, who has openly criticized this incident, was confronted on X (formerly Twitter) by an individual questioning his lack of support for Kangana during the demolition of her residence. This prompted a verbal dispute between Hansal and Kangana.

In his defense of Kunal Kamra, Hansal Mehta addressed the situation involving Kangana. He shared a derogatory tweet aimed at Kunal and condemned it. When questioned about his previous silence regarding the destruction of Kangana's home, Hansal replied, "Was her house vandalized? Did intruders invade her property? Was this act intended to undermine her freedom of expression or was it due to alleged FSI violations? Please clarify. Perhaps I am unaware of the details."
Kangana recalls how her Mumbai house was demolished
In a recent tweet, Kangana expressed her experiences of facing abuse and witnessing the destruction of her home. She criticized Hansal, labeling him as "bitter and stupid," and urged him to refrain from commenting on her personal struggles.
Kangana stated, “I was subjected to derogatory names, threatened, and my watchman received a notice late at night. The following morning, before the courts opened, bulldozers arrived and demolished my entire house. The High Court later deemed the demolition entirely illegal. They mocked my situation and celebrated my suffering and public disgrace.”
In her remarks directed at Hansal, she asserted, "Your insecurity and mediocrity have not only made you bitter and foolish but have also blinded you. It’s not about the subpar series or terrible films you produce; do not attempt to propagate your foolish lies and agendas regarding my experiences. Stay out of it." In response, Hansal commented, "Get well soon."
What happened to Kangana's house in 2020
Regarding the incident involving Kangana's residence in 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), under the leadership of then Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the Shiv Sena, demolished parts of her Bandra bungalow that were alleged to be illegal. This action occurred amid her ongoing disputes with Uddhav and the Shiv Sena.
On Tuesday, Hansal voiced his support for Kunal, recounting his own experience of being assaulted and coerced into apologizing following the release of his 2000 film Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar. He remembered how his office was vandalized by the then-undivided political party, Shiv Sena.
