Why is Emergency not getting certificate clearance?
Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is currently facing immense pressure from different authorities. Ahead of her political drama film Emergency’s release this week, the movie is getting severe backlash. Recently, Kangana claimed that Emergency is not getting clearance nod by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to multiple death threats. Taking to her social media, Kangana shared a video message about the issues and how the authorities are pressurizing to remove vital scenes from the movie.
In a video dropped on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, the Queen actress is seen addressing the issue of film certification. She also revealed that there are rumours that the film is cleared for certification, but instead the delay is a result of several death threats and has stopped the certification.
“There have been rumors speculating that my film Emergency has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. Our film did receive a clearance nod from the CBFC, but the certification was stopped due to several death threats against members of the censor board,” Kangana revealed the reason.
She further cited that the makers are now facing pressure for deleting numerous key scenes like ‘Indira Gandhi’s assassination, Bhindranwale, and Punjab riots.’ Speaking on this, Kangana lashes out and asks what actually remains to show after removing all the significant scenes from the movie that the movie is'suddenly blacked out. “This is unbelievable time for me and I am very sorry for the state of things in this country," the Tanu Weds Manu actress added.
Emergency movie ban

However, a day later, Kangana stated that she is determined to fight for her film and might even see court if needed.
Emergency is based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The political drama also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, and Shreyas Talpade in pivotal roles. It is expected to release in theatres on September 6.
