Kangana Ranaut, who has been facing trouble with the release of her film Emergency, is now making headlines for selling her bungalow-turned-office. The actress has reportedly sold her controversial Mumbai bungalow for whopping Rs. 32 crores. She had purchased the property in September 2017, and even took a loan of Rs. 20.7 crores against the property in December 2022. There was also a major hint last month that the production house was up for sale. Does Kangana's move come because she is really quitting films, or because she is facing financial crunches owing to the delay in Emergency's release (apart from most of her production movies not minting as much at the Box Office as she expected)? Here's what we know so far...

Kangana Ranaut sold her bungalow for Rs 32 crores amid Emergency row?

Kangana Ranaut has sold her Mumbai's Pali Hill bungalow for Rs. 32 crores, Zapkey reports. The actress, who was using the bungalow as office for her production house, Manikarnika Films, appears to have sold her bungalow to a company in Hyderabad.

It is interesting to note that the news comes at a time when her film Emergency is facing trouble in release. The movie, initially slated for September 6 release, has finally received a nod from the CBFC, but the release date for the movie is not yet confirmed. Reports do mention that the movie could be out this week or the next. However, it continues facing boycotts and bans, especially from Sikh organizations, who believe the movie presents their community in the wrong light.

Hints about her bungalow being sold out last month

Netizens guessed that Kangana's controversial bungalow was on sale last month, courtesy a YouTube channel called Code Estate. They had posted a video of a production house being up for sale without naming the production house. However, netizens did draw parallels and guessed that it was indeed Kangana's production house, Manikarnika Films.

The video shared that the bungalow came with the piece of land it was built on. The plot size of 285 square meters with construction area of 3042 sq. ft. matched the description. The bungalow had an additional parking space of 500 sq. ft. and two floors. The initial price for the bungalow was Rs. 40 crores. However, it looks like there was a negotiation owing to the controversy the area underwent.

What was the controversy with Kangana Ranaut's bungalow?

Back in 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sent legal notice to Kangana to vacate her property. They demolished parts of the office, citing illegal construction back in September 2020. The Bombay HC issued a stay order, post which the demolition work was stopped mid-way. Kangana had even filed a case against BMC and demanded Rs. 2 crores compensation. In May 2023, she dropped her demands.
