Following what seemed to be an extensive struggle and prolonged anticipation, the film Emergency, featuring Kangana Ranaut both as the lead and director, has finally premiered. This cinematic work delves into the life of the late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the notorious Emergency period, examining the events that precipitated it and its ramifications on Indian history. Released on January 17, 2025, the film has not achieved significant success at the box office. Nevertheless, Kangana has recently declared the film to be of world-class caliber, asserting her commitment to her principles.

Kangana Ranaut on Emergency

In her reflections post-release, Kangana Ranaut /articulated her arduous journey in bringing Emergency to fruition. She has been outspoken regarding the film's production and has reiterated her belief that it merits acknowledgment.

Regarding her conviction about Emergency, Kangana stated, as reported by News18, “It should be evident from my work that if I have criticized individuals or highlighted issues within the film industry for producing subpar films, or if I have objectified women, then I truly embody my principles. It is not merely about embodying my principles—I am capable of creating a remarkable film.”

She further remarked, “I can portray an elderly woman with both grace and dignity. I can also produce a world-class film in that context. Therefore, I embody my principles. It is essential that this is recognized—both as an individual and as an artist. This recognition is timely and is what I rightfully deserve.”

“If I derive any benefit from this film, it will be a result of my adherence to my principles. I have never considered, 'Alright, I am this way, but this is my film; I embody my principles.' I have consistently acted in this manner,” she emphasized, underscoring that her actions and artistry consistently resonate more profoundly than mere words. For Kangana, Emergency stands as a testament to her commitment to transcending limitations and preserving authenticity, regardless of the obstacles faced. “There is nothing further to articulate. My film speaks for itself, and elaborating on this is simply superfluous. There is no necessity for it.”
