Actor Kangana Ranaut made a guest appearance on Indian Idol 15 to hype up her new movie, Emergency. On Saturday, Sony Entertainment Television shared a clip on Instagram showcasing Kangana chatting with the show's judge and singer, Shreya Ghoshal.
Kangana is hoping Shreya will sing Soniyo
In the video, Kangana chatted with Indian Idol contestant Biswarup, saying, "In my movie, Sonu (Nigam) sir performed a song called Soniyo. Shreya ma'am lent her voice to that track for me. If Shreya ma'am could sing a few lines from it..." Shreya responded, "Of course! Your wish is my command." Then, she started singing the song, and Biswarup joined in.
Kangana sings a tune and gets teary-eyed
Kangana was spotted humming along to the song in the video and got a bit teary-eyed. She then applauded and put her hands together for Shreya, who responded by blowing kisses to her. The clip was posted with the caption, "At Kangana's request, Biswarup and Shreya ma'am will sing Soniyo."
Let's talk about Soniyo, Kangana, and Adhyayan Suman
The popular love song Soniyo comes from the 2009 movie Raaz: The Mystery Continues. The music video showcases Kangana alongside actor Adhyayan Suman. Shreya and Sonu Nigam lent their voices to the track. This supernatural horror flick, directed by Mohit Suri, also features Emraan Hashmi.
Kangana and Adhyayan dated for a few months back in 2008-2009, but things ended pretty badly between them. He even accused her of a bunch of things after their split.
Let's talk about emergency
The movie directed by Kangana focuses on the emergency period that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared, lasting from 1975 to 1977, and the consequences that followed. Kangana will portray Indira Gandhi in the film.
Anupam Kher will take on the role of the late politician Jayaprakash Narayan, while Shreyas Talpade will play a young Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Milind Soman will depict Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Mahima Choudhary will be seen as Pupul Jayakar, and the late Satish Kaushik will portray Jagjivan Ram. The film is set to hit theaters on January 17.
