On Sunday, actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut utilized her Instagram account to commend the women of Himachal Pradesh. Accompanying her post with images of herself alongside Preity Zinta, Yami Gautam, and Pratibha Ranta, she expressed that the women from her home state deserve to receive greater recognition.
Kangana Ranaut on Himachali women
Posting a collage of pictures featuring Preity, Yami, herself and Pratibha, Kangana wrote, “people of Himachal.” She then added that she has seen hard-working women in her state look equally good to her and these actors or even better, and that all of them were busy trying to make ends meet. She wrote, “When I go to Himachal and see our women equally or better looking than us work tirelessly in the fields no instal no reels raising cattle and making the ends meet. I feel they can do with some hype. #himachaligenes #himachaliwomen.”
Supporting Blake Lively
Recently, Kangana expressed her support for Blake Lively in her allegations against Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director in It Ends With Us. The actor-politician drew comparisons between the Hollywood and Indian film industries while referencing the Hema Committee report.
She stated, “In Hollywood, women who refuse to compromise face defamation and career destruction; this issue is not exclusive to Bollywood. A similar report, known as the Hema Committee, has emerged concerning the Malayalam film industry, which is both concerning and disgraceful.” For those unfamiliar, Blake has complained to Justin, accusing him of sexual harassment and efforts to damage her reputation.
Recent work
Kangana was most recently featured in the films Tiku Weds Sheru, Chandramukhi 2, and Tejas in 2023. This year, her biopic on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, titled Emergency, faced challenges when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused to grant it certification. Following a legal battle, Emergency has now been approved for release in 2025.
