Actor-politician Kamal Haasan made his television debut seven years back after he took up hosting the Tamil version of reality show Bigg Boss. The show ran for eight seasons on Vijay TV and can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar as well. Now after all this time, Kamal Haasan on Tuesday announced that he will be taking a break from his journey with the channel.

Kamal Haasan quits Bigg Boss Tamil

In a statement released on Tuesday, Kamal Haasan said that he will be taking a break from his commitment with Vijay TV as a host and released a press note regarding the same. "Due to prior cinematic commitments, I'm unable to host the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Tamil. I have been privileged to reach you in your homes. You have showered me with your love and affection, for which you have my everlasting gratitude," the actor said in a statement.

Kamal Haasan also quoted his enriching experience while being a host and how much of learning experience he had garnered. "I sincerely thank each one of you and the contestants in the show for our time together,” he said. Kamal also thanked the channel Vijay TV and their team for the support.

Bigg Boss is a Tamil reality show in which a group of contestants are made to live in a house free from connections of outside world and social media. With tasks and challenges posed, each contestant is eliminated every week. Kamal Haasan interacted with housemates every weekend. A new host is yet to be announced by the channel.

Kamal Haasan’s line-up

Kamal Haasan was last seen in Indian 2 and Kalki 2898 AD in which he played the antagonist Yaskin. While his role was limited in the latter, it is expected to get extended in the sequel. The multi-faceted actor also has Tamil film Thug Life with filmmaker Mani Ratnam in the making. A release date is yet to be announced.
