Actors Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan, and Silambarasan TR, also known as Simbu, are currently busy promoting their upcoming film Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam. During a promotional event, the topic of marriage came up, and Kamal shared his experience of being married twice.

When the host asked the actors about their views on marriage, Trisha stated, “I don’t really believe in marriage. If it happens, great; if not, that’s fine too.” Kamal, on the other hand, recounted a story involving MP John Brittas from about ten to fifteen years ago.

He shared in Tamil, “This was a conversation I had a while back. MP Brittas, a good friend of mine, asked me in front of some college students, ‘You come from a respectable Brahmin family, how did you end up married twice?’ I replied, ‘What does my family background have to do with marriage?’ He insisted, ‘But you worship Lord Rama, so you should live by his example.’ I told him, ‘Actually, I don’t pray to any god. I don’t follow Rama’s way; I might be more aligned with his father, Dasharatha, who had three wives.’”

Anchor: How do you feel about marriage?

Trisha: I'm not really into the idea of marriage. If it happens, cool, but if it doesn't, that's fine by me as well.

Kamal Haasan's previous romantic connections

In 1978, Kamal tied the knot with dancer Vani Ganapathy after they shared the screen in the 1975 film Melnaattu Marumagal. However, their marriage ended in divorce ten years later. Following that, he was in a relationship with actress Sarika, and they welcomed their first child, Shruti Haasan, in 1986.

Kamal and Sarika got married in 1988 and had their second daughter, Akshara Haasan, in 1991. They decided to part ways in 2002, with the divorce finalized in 2004. From 2005 to 2016, he was in a relationship with actress Gautami.

Kamal has frequently expressed in interviews that he feels marriage isn't really for him. Recently seen in Shankar’s Indian 2, he is set to appear in the sequel, Indian 3. His upcoming film, Thug Life, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5.
