Filmmaker Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD emerged as one of the most significant blockbusters of 2024. Featuring prominent actors Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, this mythological sci-fi epic broke numerous box office records. Currently, it is reported that the iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan is preparing to begin filming for Kalki 2. A recent media report indicates that the veteran actor is anticipated to start shooting in May.

Amitabh Bachchan to begin Kalki 2 in May?

As reported by Mid-Day, Amitabh Bachchan's role has been expanded in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. "He is set to commence filming in May, with an extended screen presence. The shooting is anticipated to last until June 15, after which Amitabh is likely to begin the next season of KBC in July. The upcoming instalment of the quiz show is scheduled to premiere in August," disclosed a source.

The source indicated that Kalki 2 is set to be more spectacular than its predecessor. In this sequel, the characters portrayed by Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan will face off against Kamal Haasan's Yaskin. Additionally, the film is expected to showcase Prabhas and Bachchan's efforts to save Deepika Padukone's character, Samantha, and her unborn child.

Although a month of filming for Kalki 2 was completed last year, certain action sequences remain to be shot. "Since Bachchan portrays an immortal character from the Indian epic Mahabharata, he will engage in more action involving weapons. Filming will take place on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where an extensive set has been erected. The first instalment was filmed in Shankarpally," the source elaborated.

For those unfamiliar, Amitabh Bachchan took on the role of Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin's film, while Prabhas portrayed Bhairava and Karna. The cast of Kalki 2898 AD also featured Disha Patani, Anna Ben, and Shobana, among others.
