15 days ago | 5 Views
KL Rahul has recently entered the realm of parenthood, as he and his wife, Athiya Shetty, welcomed a baby girl. Consequently, he missed the opening match of the IPL 2025 season against the Lucknow Super Giants, as he was in Mumbai to celebrate this significant milestone with his family. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old returned to Visakhapatnam in time for the second match against the SunRisers Hyderabad, where his comeback coincided with a triumphant victory for the franchise, winning by seven wickets.
On the day prior to the match against the SunRisers Hyderabad, KL Rahul was observed conversing with Nitish Kumar Reddy during a training session. Their discussion naturally revolved around Rahul's new role as a father.
A video circulating on social media captures the moment when SunRisers' all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy extends his congratulations to KL Rahul on this joyous occasion.
"How is your baby? Cute," inquired Nitish Kumar Reddy.
To which KL Rahul responded, "Of course, I would say cute."
KL Rahul then gestured to indicate the baby's small size, and his face radiated happiness as he spoke about his child.
On March 24, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty took to Instagram to jointly announce the birth of their first child.
In their post, the couple shared an artwork depicting two swans accompanied by the message, "Blessed with a baby girl."
Delhi Capitals hammer by SunRisers
On Sunday, the Delhi Capitals achieved a convincing seven-wicket victory, successfully chasing down a target of 164 runs with 24 balls remaining.
Mitchell Starc was the standout performer, claiming five wickets and aiding Delhi in dismissing a formidable SRH batting lineup for just 163 runs in 19 overs.
The Delhi Capitals faced no difficulties in reaching the target, with Faf du Plessis scoring 50 runs, Jake Fraser-McGurk contributing 38, and Abishek Porel finishing with an unbeaten 34 runs.
KL Rahul also made a brief but impactful contribution, scoring 15 runs off just 5 balls, which included two fours and a six. Ultimately, Porel and Tristan Stubbs remained not out at 34 and 21 runs, respectively.
The Delhi Capitals are set to face the Chennai Super Kings next on Saturday, April 5, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
