After heading the Kolkata International Film Festival for more than five years, Raj Chakraborty has stepped down from the chairman post this year. If all goes well, veteran director Goutam Ghose might be the new chairman of the committee. Raj has conveyed his intention to the government officials concerned. Nothing has been announced yet. The committee will meet on August 7.

The 30th KIFF will take place between December 4-10. It will be more gorgeous than last year. CM Mamata Banerjee hinted at that in last year's KIFF. In fact, when the chief minister met Amitabh Bachchan at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding in Mumbai, she invited Big B to the festival inauguration. Along with Shah Rukh Khan, Big B has been a regular at the event. However, both of them missed the festival last year. 

Why did Raj leave before that festival? Is there any misunderstanding behind this? While replying to this, Raj jokingly said that 'Abhiman' was the name of one of his films. 

It was heard that Raj wanted to leave last year but his request was not granted. This year the request has been granted. Raj confirmed the news and told the media that this was not due to any misunderstanding. He carried out the responsibility for several years and now wants a break. He thinks that the others should also get a chance. 

Who will replace Raj? Goutam Ghose's name is heard. Raj Chakraborty also praised Goutam's huge experience. However, Mamata Banerjee will officially announce the name. Goutam Ghosh does not want to pay any attention to any of these right now. He is currently in Rome where his new film’s premiere will take place.
