Trishul reached question 14. While he played remarkably till the point Rs. 50 lakhs were on the line, Trishul became underconfident and missed out on reaching closer to Rs. 1 crore.

At this point, Trishul had exhausted all of his lifelines. Thus, he was hoping to find a question for which he was confident about the answer. Here, he was left with guesswork and had to select from the options available (but based on guesswork and not his knowledge per say).

While Trishul stumbled and chose to play safe by taking home Rs. 25 lakhs instead of attempting Rs. 50 lakhs question, he would have most definitely won because the contestant made the right guess.
