K-pop group NewJeans announces departure from ADOR following CEO Min Hee Jin's resignation

Days after Min Hee Jin's resignation from her position as the CEO of ADOR, K-pop group NewJeans announced their departure from the agency and its parent company, HYBE. In an emergency press conference on November 28, all five members, Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein opened up about the situation.

NewJeans departs from ADOR

Amid the feud between Hybe’s Bang Si Hyuk and ADOR’s former CEO Min Hee Jin, NewJeans has decided to part ways with ADOR and HYBE. The group cited a breach of contract by the agencies as the reason for their departure.

As per a report by Soompi, NewJeans explained the reason behind leaving ADOR at the press conference. They said, “ADOR does not have the will or ability to protect NewJeans. If we remain here, it will be a waste of our time, and our mental distress will continue. More than anything, there is nothing that we can gain in terms of our work, so the five of us think that there is no reason at all for us to remain at ADOR."

They further mentioned that despite expressing their “opinions on several occasions," ADOR never initiated a step, and they got tired of their “insincere attitude."

They added, “When our exclusive contracts our terminated, the five of us will no longer be artists of ADOR. Breaking away from ADOR, we plan on freely carrying out the activities that we sincerely want."

ADOR breaks silence on NewJeans' contract termination

In response to the conference, ADOR shared an official statement stating that NewJeans has no grounds to announce their terminations and that the agency still wants the group to continue working together.

“We regret that a press conference to announce the termination of the exclusive contract was planned and conducted even before receiving a response to the certification of contents and without sufficient review. ADOR, as a part of the exclusive contracts, has not violated the contracts, and claiming that trust has been unilaterally broken does not constitute grounds for termination," the agency said in a statement on November 28.
