Dabba Cartel Jyotika on her shift to Mumbai

Netflix launched its crime series Dabba Cartel on Friday, which has received a favorable response. The narrative centers on five women who start a tiffin service while being investigated for their connection to a pharmaceutical company.
During the promotional activities, Jyotika participated in an interview alongside her team. Reflecting on her move to Mumbai, she remarked, “I identify as Punjabi at heart, but I am also a Tamilian now. Honestly, I believe that after turning 40, this city offers a better environment for women. The roles are diverse, well-crafted, and more authentic. My character, Varuna, is intricate, and I have not portrayed such a layered role before. Although I have acted in approximately 55 films in the south, this character provided me with a unique opportunity to explore new dimensions in my performance.”
‘There is more growth here’

Nevertheless, Jyotika expressed that she has no grievances regarding her experiences in southern cinema, noting that she would not have encountered such roles in the north at that time. “However, I must say that being over 40, the way characters are now written is exceptionally special, realistic, and offers significantly more growth. I sincerely hope to see similar developments in the southern film industry as well.”
Jyotika also expressed her desire to bring about such changes in the southern cinema landscape and to be a catalyst for the transformation she envisions.
Dabba Cartel is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
