Justin Baldoni reached out to Blake Lively to apologize after they talked about the changes she made to a scene in their movie, It Ends with Us.

Lively had accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of their hit 2024 movie, which he directed. After filing a $400 million defamation countersuit against her, Baldoni sent an apology to Lively.

They both shared their text exchanges, revealing that Lively had started the conversation about her modifications to the rooftop scene during filming.

In those messages, Lively mentioned she was let down by Baldoni’s first reaction to her edits. She also noted that her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her close friend, who turned out to be Taylor Swift, were supportive of the changes.

Baldoni later replied, saying he “really loved what (she) did” and that her edits “[made] it so much more fun and interesting.”

Baldoni gives a shoutout to the amazing creativity of his friends in a heartfelt voice message

On January 27, an audio recording provided more context. In a nearly seven-minute voice message, Baldoni kicked things off with an apology. “I’m really sorry. I definitely fell short, and you put in a lot of effort on that,” he mentioned, according to Daily Mail.

He went on, “I appreciate how you framed it and how it made you feel. Thank you for opening up to me about that.”

“That shows a lot of trust and vulnerability. I’m really thankful you feel comfortable enough to share your feelings with me. I truly apologize; I messed up.”

“I’m a pretty flawed guy, as my wife would tell you,” he added, promising to “do better.”

“Absolutely, you’ve got amazing friends if that’s how you felt and they were aware of it. We should all have friends like that; plus, they’re two of the most creative people out there. The three of you together is just incredible. The energy you all bring is something else,” he complimented Lively.

“I can’t wait to go through the whole movie with you. I’m just really looking forward to spending time together,” Baldoni wrapped up.

Meanwhile, Baldoni’s legal team is gearing up to launch a website featuring correspondence and videos they believe will counter Lively’s claims. “If they want to silence the truth by threatening to use their Hollywood influence, we’ll fight back at every turn. Defending ourselves isn’t retaliation; it’s a basic human right,” his lawyer told People Magazine.
