In light of the increasing discourse surrounding nepotism within the film industry, actor Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, has acknowledged that he possesses certain advantages over his peers due to his family background. His co-star in Loveyapa, Khushi Kapoor, daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and the late Sridevi, shared similar sentiments.
Junaid and Khushi on their families' influence
During an interview with Radio Nasha, Junaid and Khushi discussed their forthcoming film, Loveyapa. Junaid emphasized the significance of social media presence for contemporary actors, stating, “Nobody has said anything negative to me, actually. I’m not on social media, so I have no idea. Producers will cast me even without seeing any public presence. Not many actors have that. It’s purely because of the family I come from."
Khushi Kapoor, in the same interview, expressed gratitude for the privileges they enjoy. “We have a lot to be thankful for, so I don’t really want to be in a position to complain about anything. I am happy where I am,” remarked the Archies actor.
About Loveyapa
Junaid made his cinematic debut last year in Siddharth P Malhotra's Maharaj, which also featured Jaideep Ahlawat and was released on Netflix. Khushi Kapoor similarly debuted with Zoya Akhtar's The Archies, which was also released directly on Netflix. Loveyapa marks the first theatrical release for both actors.
In a conversation with HT, Khushi commented on the film, stating, “There's more stress because it's like box office numbers and so many other factors that you have to consider when considering a theatrical release. But I think it's special. So, I did my bit.” Directed by Advait Chandan, Loveyapa is scheduled for release on February 7.
