Aamir Khan previously shared that Junaid Khan was interested in a part in Laal Singh Chaddha before he kicked off his acting career with Maharaj, which was produced by Yash Raj Films. In a recent chat, Junaid mentioned that both his stepmom and director Kiran Rao auditioned for the roles of a mother and son in the movie. Unfortunately, the film's hefty budget made it tough to cast a newcomer in the main role.

Test clips featuring Junaid Khan and Kiran Rao

Junaid shared on his YouTube channel that he and Kiran Rao were set to be in Laal Singh Chaddha after nailing their auditions. Kiran was supposed to play his mom. In just four days, they shot around 20 minutes of scenes for the movie. Junaid saw it as a challenge, and Aamir wanted to see how he would tackle the role. Unfortunately, the project fell through due to budget issues, as bringing in a new actor was too expensive.

Aamir not only acted in Laal Singh Chaddha but also played a role in producing it. The film takes inspiration from the classic 1994 movie Forrest Gump, which featured Tom Hanks.

Junaid Khan's tryout for Laapataa Ladies

Junaid didn't just stop at Laal Singh Chaddha; he tried out for several other roles too. He was in the running for the lead in Kiran Rao's film, Laapataa Ladies, but ultimately, the director felt that Sparsh Shrivastava was a better fit for the role.

The Loveyapa actor shared his thoughts on the decision, explaining that Laapataa Ladies had a unique vibe. Kiran simply mentioned that Sparsh was the right choice, and Junaid agreed after seeing how his screen test went. It just seemed like the part was a better match for the Jamtara actor.

Junaid emphasized that not landing the role didn’t change his relationship with Kiran. They have a great dynamic, and he appreciates her friendly and warm nature.

Laapata Ladies and its impact

Aamir Khan took on the role of producer for Laapataa Ladies, with Kiran directing the film. Although it didn't snag any nominations, Laapataa Ladies was still chosen as India's official entry for this year's Oscars.
