Julia Garner on portraying Silver Surfer
Garner stated that she "was puzzled" about the fact that her antagonist character, the Silver Surfer, is now a woman, according to Deadline. "I met with director Matt Shakman, who’s wonderful," she explained, adding, “We met at a restaurant in Burbank or something, I don’t even recall, but I knew it was for the Fantastic Four,” as reported by the outlet.
Garner further elaborated, “And then I felt confused because I thought, ‘Wait, isn’t the Silver Surfer a male? ’ I just thought, ‘Okay, well, I’ll take on anything. ’ I was a huge admirer of Matt’s, so in my mind, I thought, ‘I should probably meet with Matt Shakman because he’s a really insightful director and I love his work. ’ And then he clarified to me that it’s Shalla-Bal and the entire concept. ”
