Ed Sheeran totally caught his fans off guard at his Sunday concert in Bengaluru by performing "Chuttamalle" from Devara alongside Shilpa Rao. He even took the time to learn some Telugu before the show to nail the pronunciation. Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor shared their thoughts on his performance too.

Jr NTR shared a clip of Ed belting out Chuttamalle at the concert on his Instagram stories, saying, “Music knows no limits, and you’ve shown that once more, Ed! Hearing you sing Chuttamalle in Telugu is something really special.” He tagged Ed, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, and Janhvi in the post.

Janhvi also put it up on her Instagram stories, expressing, “What an amazing crossover to wake up to (heart emoji).” Anirudh joined in by sharing Ed and Jr NTR’s posts on his social media, clearly excited to see him perform the Telugu favorite.

Ed Sheeran performs Chuttamalle

Ed brings Shilpa up on stage in a clip from the Bengaluru concert he shared on Instagram. “Let’s hear it for Shilpa Rao!” he shouted, and the crowd went wild. They then performed Chuttamalle together, with Ed nailing the Telugu lyrics while strumming his guitar. “I’ve been obsessed with @shilparao’s voice lately, and it’s such a privilege to share the stage tonight and pick up a new language!” he posted.

Shilpa shared a fun video on her Instagram stories showing Ed practicing guitar chords for a song while trying to memorize the lyrics in Telugu. They both had big smiles, and Shilpa seemed really impressed with how quickly Ed picked up the tune and went with the flow of the song.

Before his concert in Bengaluru, Ed faced a little hiccup when he attempted to perform on Church Street but got stopped by the police. He later explained that he had the go-ahead to play there, saying, “We had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn't just us randomly turning up. All good though. See ya at the show tonight x.”
