The ongoing legal battle between former spouses Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has certainly captivated tabloid headlines for several years, likely affecting their respective families as well. Tensions have resurfaced following the alleged notorious incident on a private jet in 2016, during which the actor reportedly exhibited violent behaviour. Their six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne—are now nearing their twenties, with some having already reached that milestone. Many of them have openly shown their support for their mother as her tumultuous divorce from Pitt continues to remain unresolved.

Maddox and Pax saw their mother Angelina Jolie cry like never before on the Maria set

The Maleficent star has been candid about her parenting approach, which emphasizes allowing her children the freedom to carve their paths in life, while also providing them with opportunities within the entertainment industry. Although her children have not shown a strong interest in acting, they have frequently accompanied her behind the scenes over the years. Recently, her eldest sons, Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21, served as production assistants on their mother’s latest film, Maria.

Her interactions with the Jolie-Pitt brothers on set diverge from the typical expressions of parental emotions that many exhibit in front of their children. In an interview with the BBC, Jolie revealed that she found it difficult to contain her emotions while working on the biopic, resulting in her eldest sons experiencing their mother’s emotional authenticity in “a new way.”

Angelina Jolie was more honest about her feelings with her kids

Angelina Jolie acknowledged that her children have witnessed her endure numerous challenges, yet they had not seen her reveal the depth of pain that parents often conceal from their offspring. She discovered a means to convey her genuine emotions through her character, which enabled her to communicate openly with her sons regarding her struggles.

In these poignant moments, both Maddox and Pax became her trusted confidants, providing support as she navigated her feelings. "They were present to observe some of that," she remarked. "...then we would embrace, or they would offer me cups of tea."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August, Jolie reflected on the "heavy moments" she faced while filming Maria. "It was incredibly meaningful to have my boys with me during the production of Maria," she stated. "One of the more intense aspects was that—typically when I express such profound pain, it is not in front of my children. Parents often strive to shield their children from the extent of their pain and sorrow."

As reported by the Daily Mail, Pax has secured a significant role as the third assistant director in his mother's forthcoming high fashion drama, Stitches, which Angelina Jolie is currently filming in Paris.
