Angelina Jolie expresses her thoughts with both honesty and clarity. In her cover feature for W Magazine's Best Performances issue, released shortly after the announcement of her finalized divorce from Brad Pitt following an extensive eight-year legal dispute, the 49-year-old Academy Award-winning actress shared her insights on a range of subjects. When inquired about her "pet peeves," the star of Maria candidly replied, "There are many things. However, my greatest pet peeve is someone who lies."
Jolie reveals her pet peeves are ‘liars’ amid divorce
The distinguished actor articulated, “There are individuals who feel compelled to withhold the truth or their genuine emotions. This phenomenon can be quite significant — and I do not wish to sound overly serious — but it pertains to those who express one sentiment while harbouring another, who do not fully embrace their true selves. I believe many individuals fail to communicate their true intentions.”
Although Jolie refrained from naming any specific individuals as “liars,” her remarks came just days after the conclusion of her divorce from Pitt. The former spouses had been embroiled in a protracted legal dispute since the official filing in September 2016.
Her attorney, James Simon of Hersh Mannis, disclosed that the actress has been “focused on achieving peace and healing for their family,” adding, “To be candid, Angelina is fatigued, but she feels a sense of relief that this particular chapter has come to a close.”
Jolie hopes for Pitt to ‘stop attacking her’
A source disclosed to People that Jolie is hoping for Pitt to “move on” and “cease his attacks” following the finalization of their divorce. The insider elaborated, “Brad has effectively utilized his influence and privilege to obscure his actions at the expense of his family, to retaliate against Angelina for her departure, and even to portray her as the cause of his difficulties with the children.”
They further stated, “Angelina is optimistic that the conclusion of their divorce will prompt him to move forward, stop his attacks, and instead contribute to the healing of their family.”
Conversely, a source close to Pitt refuted these claims, asserting to People that Jolie has been the one conducting “one-sided attacks for the past eight years, which include a continuous distortion of facts and projecting her behaviour onto others, resulting in significant collateral damage to those within and around the family.”
Although their divorce has been finalized, Jolie and Pitt continue to dispute ownership of their French winery. In October 2021, Pitt filed a separate lawsuit alleging that Jolie violated an agreement by selling her half of the winery for $67 million.
