Fans of the action-packed John Wick series can celebrate, as actor Keanu Reeves will return to his legendary role as the hitman in the forthcoming John Wick 5. As reported by Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate revealed the next installment of the franchise on Tuesday during the ongoing CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Director Chad Stahelski returns alongside Keanu Reeves for John Wick: Chapter 5. The previous film concluded with the demise of the main character, the assassin John Wick. Lionsgate is in the process of developing this new installment, collaborating with Thunder Road producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, as well as franchise director and producer Chad Stahelski and producer-star Keanu Reeves.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, stated, “Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not come back unless they had something truly remarkable and innovative to contribute to these characters and this universe. We are eager for audiences to discover the next chapter of this journey.”
John Wick: Chapter 4 premiered in 2023 and achieved over $440 million in global box office revenue. The film concluded with Winston, portrayed by Ian McShane, and the Bowery King, played by Laurence Fishburne, standing at a grave marked with John Wick’s name.
The franchise began with the original John Wick in 2014, featuring Keanu Reeves as the titular hitman who is drawn back into the criminal underworld after his retirement.

At the same time, the action franchise is broadening its scope with an animated prequel film and a standalone adventure focused on Caine, directed and starring Donnie Yen. These initiatives will complement the forthcoming spinoff, Ballerina, featuring Ana de Armas, which is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 6.
Keanu Reeves is set to make an appearance in Ballerina before reprising his role in John Wick 5. This project brings him back together with franchise director and producer Chad Stahelski, along with Thunder Road producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.
