Pathaan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, was a major hit in 2023. In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, John hinted that there might be a prequel focusing on his character Jim down the line. However, he didn’t mention anything about a sequel to the movie.

John's thoughts on the Pathaan prequel

In the interview, John shared insights about his journey in the industry and reflected on his various roles throughout the years. When discussing Pathaan, he mentioned, “Pathaan was super cool and unique. Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I have worked together on Dhoom, Kabul Express, New York, and now Pathaan. I feel like he really understands me, and fingers crossed we’ll be working on a prequel to Jim before he turns sour. So that’s in the works.”

Pathaan is all about action and adventure

Pathaan was produced by Aditya Chopra from Yash Raj Films and directed by Siddharth Anand. It features John as the villain Jim, who goes head-to-head with Shah Rukh Khan's main character. In a previous chat with Pinkvilla, Siddharth Anand mentioned the idea of a prequel, saying, “It should be, but it’s too early to talk about anything. I feel, Jim’s character does warrant a prequel." Pathaan quickly became one of the highest-grossing films in Hindi cinema, raking in ₹ 634 crore globally within just seven days.

John's most recent appearance was in Vedaa. He’s now preparing for the release of The Diplomat, where he portrays the real-life Indian diplomat JP Singh. Originally scheduled for March 7, the film will now premiere a week later on March 14, coinciding with Holi.
