Bollywood star John Abraham is in full swing promoting his new movie, The Diplomat. With 22 years in the film industry under his belt, he recently opened up in an interview with Filmfare about a time he was turned away from his film's muhurat shot simply for showing up on a motorcycle. He also reflected on the advice he would give to his younger self.

John Abraham was turned away during the film's muhurat shot

Looking back on that day, John shared, "For my first muhurat shot, I rode in on a motorcycle. The film was Aetbaar, and there were Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan clapping the board for me. Hrithik and I were classmates—he's such a nice guy. But I wasn't allowed in because I showed up on a bike. The gates were locked, and they asked me, ‘Who are you?’ I replied, ‘The muhurat is for my film,’ and they finally let me through. As soon as the gates opened, Amitabh and Hrithik were waving me in, saying, ‘Come on in.’ That was my first experience—it took place at Sujeet Kumar's house."

He went on to say, "On another note, I've noticed that after every film, it feels like my obituary is written ahead of time. My career has been shaped by criticism. You can look at it in two ways—either you get bitter and fight back, or you accept that people have the right to critique, and that's the mindset I choose to have. I'm content with it."

John made his Bollywood debut with Jism in 2003 after a successful modeling career. Aetbaar, directed by Vikram Bhatt, was his fourth film. This romantic psychological thriller also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, and Supriya Pilgaonkar in significant roles. The film drew inspiration from the 1996 American movie Fear.
