John Abraham is preparing for the launch of his forthcoming thriller drama, The Diplomat. In anticipation of this release, the actor discussed the issue of inflated fees for actors and the substantial costs associated with their entourages. He remarked that the entire industry is facing challenges, noting that there are producers who are prepared to pay these excessive sums to actors.

John Abraham on 'mental' entourage costs

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, John Abraham addressed the issue of actors demanding exorbitant fees, specifically mentioning 'heroes asking for Rs. 100 crore per day and their stylists' requesting Rs. 2 lakh per day.' 

Describing the situation as 'mental,' the actor remarked, "This is already detrimental to Hindi cinema. At this juncture, we should not be compensating individuals to perform in films, as we cannot justify such inflated budgets and the substantial fees we receive. We cannot burden a film with excessive entourage expenses. It is absurd. I am uncertain whether actors are genuinely considering this or if it is their agents influencing their perspective. As an industry, we are truly struggling."

He further stated that actors must acknowledge their position in a challenging situation and should focus on the backend processes of filmmaking. 

"Actors ought to recognize that if films are profitable, they too benefit financially, having already amassed significant wealth. How much longer will the system be exploited? However, it is important to note that success cannot be achieved unilaterally; there are producers who are also prepared to offer substantial sums," he remarked.

John Abraham teases Pathaan prequel

In the same interview, John Abraham hinted at the possibility of a prequel focusing on his character Jim from the Shah Rukh Khan-starring film Pathaan. 

He remarked, “I believe he (Adi) understands my character well, and we are hopeful about creating a prequel to Jim before he becomes embittered. That project should be in the works.” John further expressed his desire to explore a variety of film genres.

Additionally, according to PeppingMoon, the script for Pathaan 2 has been completed, with production anticipated to commence in the first half of 2026. It is expected that SRK will participate in Pathaan 2 following the theatrical release of King's film in 2026.

John will next appear in The Diplomat. The action thriller is directed by Shivam Nair where John plays an Indian diplomat who tries to bring an Indian girl back home from Pakistan, where she was allegedly tricked into marrying against her will. The film will hit theatres on March 15.
